Information about the drug

Clenbuterol is a powerful stimulant that speeds up metabolism and increases the rate of fat burning.

It is sold under different names such as Spiropent and Ventipulmin, but most people simply call it “clen.”

Ventipulmin was originally used in veterinary medicine as a treatment for respiratory diseases in horses. It acts as a bronchodilator, that is, it expands the bronchi and opens the airways for better air passage.

Clenbuterol was originally also used as a nasal decongestant and asthma medicine in humans. It is still used as a respiratory medicine in some countries, but most have already switched to safer and more effective alternatives.

Now, how did “clen” go from a horse drug to help them run better to one of the most popular dry-weight gainers in bodybuilding?

Clenbuterol is a selective β2-adrenostimulant. That is, it acts on the same receptors as adrenaline, but produces a more pronounced effect, including fat burning. In addition, it acts on muscle cells and stimulates protein synthesis, which helps to keep the muscles on the “dry”.

What is Ventipulmin used for?

Most people take this drug for one of two reasons:

• To improve athletic performance.
• To quickly burn fat while maintaining muscle.

There is ongoing debate as to whether it improves physical performance, but most studies currently agree that it probably does not.

And yet there is no question that Clenbuterol accelerates fat loss.

Studies in both animals and humans have confirmed that clenbuterol speeds up metabolism and fat burning. Although it is not a steroid, it has been shown in numerous experiments to stimulate muscle protein synthesis, and thus actually help maintain muscle mass in a calorie deficit.

This is what made clenbuterol popular among bodybuilders.

There is a widespread belief that the anabolic effect of the drug is so pronounced that it can be used for gaining muscle mass, but this sounds unlikely. It is also necessary to take into account the fact that a lot is known about clenbuterol, both from a scientific and a practical point of view.

Now the question is...

How powerful clenbuterol as a fat burner

Many seasoned athletes claim that it increases the basal metabolic rate (BMR) by about 10%. Unfortunately, there is no research that can confirm or deny this figure. However, 10% seems quite reasonable based on anecdotal evidence over decades.

This begs a critical note about the drug: given its health risks (which we'll talk about shortly), the ~ 10% increase in BMR is actually not that significant.

You should also not take Clen for more than 4-6 weeks at a time, because the body develops a tolerance for it, reducing its effectiveness.

From time to time you will hear about people losing 1 kg of fat per week or more with the help of clenbuterol, but there is very little anecdotal evidence, and even more so scientific, to support such claims.

Thus, it is fair to say that a "cycle" of taking the drug will most likely help you burn an additional 1.5-2 kg of fat, and this only if the diet is designed to be 100%. Or you can simply skip Clenbuterol and extend the drying time for several weeks to achieve the same result.

And you never have to worry about potential side effects.

So, clenbuterol helps you burn a little over 200 grams of additional fat per week.

Ventipulmin applying

Most people who use the drug take it between 4 and 12 weeks and break it down into cycles of 4 to 6 weeks.

In other words, from the very beginning - no more than 4-6 weeks, then a break for 1-2 weeks to give the body a rest and increase the sensitivity to the drug (to maintain maximum efficiency).

Many bodybuilders will also increase the dosage during each cycle.

Standard practice is to start with a low dose of 20 to 30 mcg for the first two weeks - about the same dosage used to treat asthma - and then work up to 50-120 mcg for the rest of the cycle.

While increasing amounts do promote fat loss, it also requires very careful dose adjustment and carries the risk of overdose, which can be a daunting and dangerous experience.

Although many athletes who have taken Clenbuterol claim that most of the side effects are observed only at the very beginning of the cycle, when the dose is gradually increased, and then they gradually subside. For maximum effect, bodybuilders consume 120 mcg of clenbuterol per day. To eliminate side effects, 1-2 mg of ketotifen and 50 mg of metoprolol are taken in parallel. It is also recommended to take it in the morning so as not to cause sleep disturbances. Clenbuterol used to be very popular with girls due to its lack of androgenic side effects.

Much of the research has been done in animals, so we don't know enough how severely it can affect us humans.

However, we know that it is unsafe, which is why clenbuterol is not approved for human consumption in most countries.
